Hi everyone,

I just wanted to let you all know that the localization freeze for
Camino 1.6 is in effect and there should not be any further string or
nib changes after this point.

Beta 3 itself will be delayed a bit due to other fixes, but we wanted
to make sure you all had a string-frozen build that you could begin
your final translation work on immediately, so that you have as much
time as possible before the release of Camino 1.6. You can use the
Camino build at
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/camino/nightly/2008/03/2008-03-01-01-1.6-M1.8/
for this.

A few notes:

1) FindBarTextured.nib should only be edited in Interface Builder 3
on Mac OS X 10.5 (while all other nibs should be edited in IB 2.x,
preferably on 10.4.x if at all possible, since IB 2.x on 10.5 writes
nibs that are much slower to load). In order to make the Find Bar
appear properly on Mac OS X 10.5 we had to build this nib in IB3, and
while IB2 might be able to open it, it's not guaranteed that the
older IB won't break the nib when editing and saving. We realize
this is not a good situation, and we apologize. If no one on your
translation team has access to Mac OS X 10.5, Stuart Morgan has
volunteered to fix the strings ("Search Page" placeholder text in the
search field, and the "Match Case" button) and button size for any
team in this situation.

2) New bookmarks and search engines: Camino 1.6 will include a
completely new set of default bookmarks. We have been working on a
localization policy for these bookmarks (and the default set of
search engines). Unfortunately, it's not done yet, but it is a high
priority for us. Please hold off on localizing the bookmarks and
search engines until the policy is finished. If you'd like to follow
the discussion, the bug is
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=411371

3) As before, the release notes that ship with alpha and beta
releases won't be shipped in the final 1.6 release, so unless you're
done with everything else and want to translate the 1.6b3 notes for
your test releases, you shouldn't worry about translating them. Our
plan is to have the final 1.6 release notes ready (for our release
candidate build) approximately one week before the final release
(earlier if possible, of course). We'll try to reuse as much of the
introductory text from the 1.5 notes as possible so that most of your
translation work will be the bullet points for the new features in
1.6.

4) We don't have a solid target date yet for the release, but the
goal is 3-4 weeks (late March). We will keep you updated as plans
become solid.

Please let us know if you have any questions, and thank you all for
all of your work!

Smokey
