A release is usually "string-frozen" from its first appearance (i.e.  
1.6, or even the 1.6RC) through the following updates. If you have a  
fully translated 1.6.7, the l10n will work with 1.6.8 and  with any  
other update to the 1.6 series.
At this time, you should check to guarantee the quality of the 1.6.x  
l10n and, at the same time, move on to v.2.0 which is coming closer  
these days.
