I expect that xulrunner will continue to be actively developed because
there are so many programs for it.  Firefox will be a xulrunner
application eventually, I believe, though that may have been
postponed.

More and more, especially with jbms's recent improvements
(experimental-buffers branch) conkeror is more of a Component, and
less of a Gui-oriented application.  It is conceivable that conkeror
could be both an independent application and an extension for any
mozilla-based program.  The front end could even be completely
modular, so that conkeror's functionality could be added to
practically any XUL document with the right glue code--not just
`conkeror.xul' as now.

That said, I don't see it happening with any great haste unless the
project gets another developer who wants to work on that.
