[Conkeror] Firefox blocks installation of Conkeror?

I use Firefox 2.0.0.11 under Windows XP.

When I go to http://conkeror.mozdev.org/installation.html and click on
conkeror-firefox-0.42.xpi in instruction 2, I get the oddly worded
message

  Firefox prevented this site (conkeror.mozdev.org) from asking you
  to install software on your computer.

Prevented it from *asking me*?  What does that mean?

Also, I tried browsing to chrome://conkeror/content/help.html as
mentioned in instruction 4, and got no response at all -- not even a
complaint.  (When I try it thru Gnus, I get an access-denied message.)

Conkeror looks like what I have been wishing for for years, but I am
not a computer professional and cannot imagine what all this means.  I
would be grateful for advice.
