Thank you, that is my next step.

I have gotten the encrypting function to work (after installing the
standard Gnu PG v1.4.7 package), but decrypting is now asking for the
passphrase which it cannot get:

Initializing Enigmail service ...
EnigmailAgentPath=C:\Program Files\GNU\GnuPG\gpg.exe

enigmail> C:\Program Files\GNU\GnuPG\gpg.exe --charset utf8  --batch --no-tty --
version
gpg (GnuPG) 1.4.7
<snip>

enigmail> C:\Program Files\GNU\GnuPG\gpg.exe --charset utf8  --batch --no-tty --
status-fd 2 -d --use-agent
gpg: NOTE: --use-agent is not available in this version
gpg: can't query passphrase in batch mode
gpg: encrypted with 2048-bit ELG-E key, ID 22784C05, created 2007-06-04
      "XXXXXX XXXXXX (no password) <andrew at domain-name.com>"
gpg: encrypted with 1024-bit ELG-E key, ID 9108B26A, created 2007-06-05
      "Albert Whale <aewhale at ABS-CompTech.com>"
gpg: public key decryption failed: bad passphrase
gpg: decryption failed: secret key not available
enigmail.js: Enigmail.decryptMessageEnd: Error in command execution

Is this still a gpg issue? Or is this an enigmail issue?
