Please re-read my message, noting my distinction between syntactic
integrity (which is what a good signature assures) and semantic integrity.
Failing the signature check is not in doubt. It will certainly fail the
signature check. However, the meaning we ascribe to the signature check
failing should probably be re-evaluated.
