Thank you very much for your help!  The issue has been resolved!  I summed up my appreciation with another comment on the Firefox extension Site.  I'll repost here:

"Earlier I left a comment here and on the developer's Website concerning the Blogger portion of Googlebar not opening in a new window.  Well he guided me through the process (going to about:config) and changing the 'value' of the googlebar.gbloggerStandardWinPref to "true."  Not only is the extension both useable and efficient, but support is bar none!  Download it NOW!"
