Howdy,
Before starting this week's statistics, let me just explain last week's
mystery: vivisimo made some unexpected boost, but we had no clue on
where all these vivisimo requests came from. Until Mat pointed to a
slashdot article
http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/01/05/1839233&mode=thread&tid=126&tid=185&tid=95
which was discussing this CNN article:
http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/internet/01/05/seeing.search1.ap/index.html
There was no link whatsoever to mycroft, but we assume that many
slashdot readers are mozilla users and know about mycroft. So all these
people (or at least, some of them) came to mycroft in order to see
whether we have vivisimo, and since we had it, probably also downloaded
it. In effect, we have been mini-slashdotted ;-)
Now the stats of this week:

The category top 10 also remained very stable.

Not much change here either.

As you can see, vivisimo made a very reasonable part (4%) but was still
way behind number 9 (alltheweb), while altavista, which I thought might
be falling out of the top 10 this week, due to its generally bad
ranking, went up to rank number 8.

metager again in the top of "not found"s, while it's first time to see
mapquest (cannot be done since it needs multiple field input) and "all
music" (we have allmusic).

Some small changes in the top 10, and new challenger, a classical one:
leo, the German-English online dictionary. Note that in a few weeks, it
will start a German-French dictionary service, which might attract some
more searches here at mycroft, and which might make this challenger even
stronger...
Otherwise: this was really a dull statistics report, wasn't it?
