Yes, usually most Miscrosoft employee contracts state you cannot work on 
any project that may compete with Microsoft or enhances a competitors 
service (like Firefox).
Some contracts even go as far as not allowing you to contribute to 
*anything* open-source.

It seems they vary as the two I know of where in these categories.
