You should put this into your build system. I use ant for that, and can
write something for ant rather quickly which would do the job for you,
but I highly doubt you use ant. If you do, let me know and I'll write
you an ant task for it.

On the other hand, if you make your em:updateURL an https:// scheme
instead of http://, you'll minimize the risk of man-in-the-middle
attacks without having to change your build process.
