As a test I tried to install the latest Console2 from:
<https://downloads.mozdev.org/console2/console2-0.3.8+.xpi>

This is what I got using the latest trunk builds:

SuiteRunner:

Cannot Complete Request

An error occurred during a connection to downloads.mozdev.org:443
because it uses an invalid security certificate.
The certificate is not valid for domain name downloads.mozdev.org.
 (ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)

Additional information about this problem or error is currently unavailable.

Minefield:

Secure Connection Failed

downloads.mozdev.org uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is only valid for the following names:
  mozdev.org , www.mozdev.org

(Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)

    * This could be a problem with the server's configuration, or it
could be
someone trying to impersonate the server.

    * If you have connected to this server successfully in the past,
the error may
be temporary, and you can try again later.

    * You can see and change your current list of servers with known
security problems
        in your advanced encryption settings.

I guess https:// downloads is still not ready for primetime.
